Having a clear big picture of your future self is essential, but we need a clear sense of direction to avoid stumbling and falling.

Focusing on living each day to the fullest has helped me consistently get closer to my future self. I used to take things too hard on myself by working towards achieving bigger goals or steps to reach my future self, and it always ended with me crashing straight into a wall. I was depressed, uninspired, and having thoughts of giving up altogether.

When we take a giant leap forward towards our future selves, we might be overwhelmed by the challenges that arise because we might need certain character traits or solutions to solve them. To achieve these skills, we have to take things slow.

Look at it this way:
If we can teleport to our destination, we will miss out on the journey and all the life lessons it comes with. I’ve found a shortcut or an easy way to reach my goals, and I leapt forward. However, once I have achieved it, things start to crumble and fall because I need to prepare to receive it. If I have taken the longer route to reach my goals, I will be able to appreciate and value it more because of the struggles and life lessons I have faced along the way.

Today, I will ensure that my day is filled with the things I need to do to reach my future self. Instead of rushing to the finish line, I will set daily goals and do my best to achieve them.

This practice keeps me motivated and looking forward to my daily quests and missions. Accomplishing these tasks made me feel worthy of myself once more.

Most of my biggest challenges are failing to complete tasks I give myself to do. With that in mind, I break these tasks into smaller daily pieces and try to complete them.

There is only so much we can accomplish in a day, and giving yourself tasks that will help you reach your big picture is important.

In short, I tend to give up and feel worthless if I cannot complete my tasks. In most cases, dialling down my tasks and turning them into smaller, reasonable functions that can be completed within a day is important to keep me going.

If you face the same challenges as me, focus on living your day fully and completing small daily tasks first. This will give you a sense of pride and purpose, leading to you taking up more significant challenges.
